| Types of Donations
Repairables
This program is where you donate your vehicle to a
501 (c) (3) charity. You receive free pick up and an
official tax receipt.
The noncash charitable contribution may be used by
you in filing your taxes to reduce your tax liability.
To receive a tax deduction from a noncash charitable
contribution you do need to itemize deductions.
If you have other questions concerning itemizing deductions
or how this may affect your personal tax situation,
please consult your tax preparer or a Certified Public
Accountant.

Fair Market Value and Publication 526
For information about determining the "fair market
value" of a vehicle you can read "Publication
526 Charitable Contributions". Download
PDF here.
You can read the entire publication or you can start
at page 7 of the document. Be sure to read the section
entitled "Contribution of Property" and a section
called "Determining Fair Market Value" and
there is another section called "Cars, boats, and
aircraft." This gives very specific information
about that type of donation.
Fair Market Value and Publication 561
There is another IRS form that is pertinent, that is
Publication 561. The publication is entitled, "Publication
561 Determining the Value of Donated Property".
You can find that publication here.
Recyclable Cars
We always welcome a car or any vehicle donation. However,
for years we have advised donors on this website that
in order to receive a tax benefit the donor has to itemize
deductions.

Everyone Wins
Many years ago we realized that not only are we accepting
donations to benefit the charity, but also to benefit
the environment AND the donor. We realized that offering
fast and free vehicle pick up is a convenient way for
vehicle disposal (recycling, salvage) and a very great
and needed service.
In order to provide donors, who cannot benefit from
a tax deduction, with something other than free pick
up the Auto Salvage — Recycling Program was developed.
This program is a for profit program.
Auto Salvage Recycling Program
How our auto salvage program works
Generally auto salvage is associated with junk cars
and selling cars for auto parts or buying auto parts.
We try to salvage a vehicle by getting it picked up and
fixed back up and put on the road and not junking it.
Most of the vehicles, such as automobiles, cars, trucks,
atvs, motorcycles, boats, trailers, jet skis, etc. are
not sold as junk or "salvaged" but are sold
at auction to dealers that can fix them up and resell
them.
Thus we pick up vehicles that can be fixed up. The only
vehicles we pick up for parts are much newer vehicles.
It depends on the value of the vehicle but usually we
would only pick up vehicles that are newer than 1996
if they are only going to be sold for parts. This does
not mean that we only pick up vehicles that are 1996
or newer. Those are the vehicles we pick up if they can
only be used for parts.
We put no age restrictions on what we pick up. We pick
up vehicles of all ages. Obviously the older the vehicle
the better its condition must be in order to pick it
up. We have no set rules. We evaluate every vehicle separately
based on all of the information that is provided on the
online form.
Our auto salvage recycling program provides a Fast and
Free Pickup process and enables your old automobile,
motorcycle or boat to be recycled thus conserving our
nations resources and eliminating waste.
Is my car junk?
What defines a junk car can vary greatly from one person
to another. For example a person who owns a gutted '79
Mercedes without an engine, might feel that their car
is far from junk and has a lot of value. On the other
hand someone with a 95' Lexus that has a dented front
quater panel might think the car is complete junk and
can't wait to get rid of it.
So what makes a car junk and what doesn't?
The Vehicle is junk if:
1. If the car is at the point where it's repair would
out weigh its auction value.
2. If the vehicle is totally wrecked.
